It’s an afternoon on the way home. The bus is hot with so many people, the windows are fogged up and someone is drawing secret messages with his fingers. The driver barely nods at the sight of the season tickets. At the back, where there are always gaps, the laughter starts just before Bogdan gets to sit down.
At first it was jokes about Bogdan’s clothes and hat. Then, every day, there was a new variation: the cap flies from hand to hand on the bus, there are “mistaken” pushes, things from his backpack disappear, and annoying comments are repeated in the hallway and also in the chat. If Bogdan tries to defend himself, the teasing gets worse; if he ignores it, it doesn’t stop either. The ride to and from school becomes a knot of nerves. The teachers see nothing, the classmates are silent. And even the bus, which should be a refuge, becomes a stage.
– “Hey, look at the artist’s hat.”
– “Give it back.”
– (laughter) “If it bothers you, come and get it.”
– “I want to go in peace. It’s not a game.”
I’m a classmate of yours and I’m on that same bus.
1. Now (10 s): I sit next to you and say loudly, “Give back the hat. Now.”
2. Safety: I ring the bell and ask the driver to stop the bus at a standstill: “There’s harassment in the back”. We move to the front seats.
3. Alliances: I recruit another person: one talks to the driver, another records data (time, line, descriptions) without recording faces of minors.
4. At school (24 h): submit report to tutoring/CPE and request no-contact, bus/stop surveillance and review with company.
5. In the group: I write “do not forward/delete memes” and support with two allies.
6. Week 1: I accompany you in/out; we propose assigned seating on the school bus or front “safe zone”.
Table roles: Bogdan (protagonist), initiating aggressor, hat pinner, peer witness (narrator), driver, tutor, CPE, ally.
