ABOUT THE PROJECT

Background

Bullying remains a widespread and deeply harmful issue affecting young people across Europe. It often goes unspoken, unreported, and unresolved. “Rewriting the Story” was born from the belief that real stories hold the power to change lives. Through storytelling, we aim to build empathy, give voice to survivors, and equip educators and youth workers with tools to identify, prevent, and transform bullying behaviors.

Rationale

Our project addresses the urgent need for preventative, youth-centered, and story-driven approaches to bullying, creating safe spaces where stories of vulnerability become the seeds of empowerment. It builds on our partners’ long-standing experience in non-formal education, inclusion, mental health, and social game design.

MAIN GOALS

To collect and curate real-life stories of bullying from young people across Europe.

To transform these stories into educational materials.

To raise awareness among educators and youth workers about the dynamics of bullying.

To empower young people to take a proactive role by becoming “story ambassadors.”

To ensure that the results are accessible, multilingual, and inclusive.

To create a digital platform for sharing of stories, resources and best practices.

These elements are integrated into the main project outputs: a story collection, a facilitator’s manual, and a cooperative board game that invites players to explore real bullying situations and develop paths for resolution.

Asociación Promesas

A non-profit organisation with a long track record in creative education, game-based learning, and teacher training. Promesas coordinates the project and leads the creation of the educational resources and board game.

En Root

A dynamic youth organisation from France specialised in arts-based methods, emotional education, and inclusive practices in schools. En Root contributes to methodology development and piloting workshops.

CJRAE Ialomița

An experienced Romanian education institution working on youth empowerment and personal development. They lead the digital storytelling aspects and help gather real-life stories of bullying for the game and materials.

Together, we bring decades of experience in youth work, inclusion, emotional intelligence, and European cooperation.
